This is a great magic trick that uses a deck of cards, and is always a hit with the kids. Even adults will have no clue how you do this amazing trick. The cool thing is that it requires no sleight of hand or any hidden cards or anything like that. This is a self working trick, meaning that it will always work, every time. And when they figure out how it’s done it will be amazing, but only if you show them.

Here’s how the deception looks to your shocked observers. You have all the cards of the same suit taken out of the deck. So you’ve got all the hearts, or clubs, or whatever. Have them arranged in order, starting from the ace, and ending with the king. If you are doing this with children, you can even have them set the deck up for them.

Once you’ve got it set up, then you go through the deck once, showing them all that they are indeed in order, beginning from the ace, and ending at the king. If you like you can give them the short stack and have them check for themselves to make sure there is nothing odd going on.

Then clarify the deception to them. You have the stack face down. If they say “deal,” then you take one card off the top, and place it face down on the table, in a new stack. If they say “double deal” then you take two cards off the top, reverse the order and then place them face down in the same stack. Do this until you’ve gone through all the cards. Tell them that they have to remember the new order that the cards are in. While they are busily trying to re analyze the order, you pick up the new stack, and begin to turn each card over one by one. They will be startled to see that the cards are still in the same order, beginning from the ace, up to the king.

Most often, they will ask you to do it again, and again. And the cool part is, since this is a self working trick, they can do it themselves and it will still work. The reason it works should be obvious once you do this a few times. If you take only one card off the top, and place it in the new stack, (deal), or take two cards, and reverse the order, placing them in the new stack (double deal) they still end up in the same order, no matter if you deal or double deal them. To see how this works, do the trick with all the cards facing up, and you’ll see how it works out.

This is extraordinary for kids of all ages, and several of them will never deduce how it works even after they do the trick themselves. Of course, you’ll intermittently run into a young academic or natural mathematician who’ll see right through this trick and appreciate how it’s down. Nevertheless, this trick is great for endless amounts of amusement, even with grownups. Have fun with this straightforward trick.

The key trick is in choosing your market slice. You must choose a slice of the market where people want to keep memories alive in print. It must also be an event that is hard to capture for a not professional so that they will need your services.

One idea is to go to kids sports events. Get permission from the coach to click pics for the parents watching and then start clicking away. If you turn up with a massive telephoto lens like the ones used for pro coverage of events, you will be taken seriously. Make sure you get all the kids doing great action shots and then hand out flyers to all the kids’ parents watching with your web address. If you can write down the parents email address so you can email them the URL of you site then upload the pics to your web site that day and email everyone. If you have a simple shopping cart set up you can make money in a few hours as people pop in to see the pics and buy them for $20 or more a pop.

You can do a similar thing with weddings. Take all the regular shots as part of the wedding coverage but then get your URL printed on the wedding invites and all the other wedding materials and also get an email list of all the wedding guests, offer the couple a nice 20% discount for doing this and then take lots of extra pics at the wedding of the guests doing all the things they do. Upload all the pics to your site and send the emails. You will then make a lot more money than the 20% discount it cost you because then 30 or 40 people will be also purchasing your pics at $20 or more a shot straight from your site. You can also charge a higher price for high resolution pics.

The key is to just find a corner of the market where you can take the pics and then sell them easily online.

Dog shows, fashion shows, horse shows, car shows, livestock competitions, rock shows, – the list goes on. Keep your eye out in the events section of your local paper to see what is happening. Always ask for permission to shoot pics and if you need to offer the people 10% of the income if feel you need to so you can get easy access.

There are a dizzying number of legends and stories of the origins of Valentines Day. It may have begun as a feast in ancient Rome, or based on one or two early Christian martyrs. The romantic connection could have begun sometime in the middle ages in the tradition of courtly love with a poem by Geoffery Chaucer. The following are some of the more recognized stories.

Lupercalia was an ancient Roman, or possibly pre-Roman festival celebrated every year to honor Lupercus, the god of fertility. It was originally a shepherd festival local to the area around Rome. It survived into Christian times and was abolished by Pope Gelasius near end of the 5th century.

Another story concerns the reign of Emperor Claudius II. This Emperor needed soldiers to fight wars and believed men failed to join his army because they didn’t want to leave their wives and families. So Claudius outlawed marriages and engagements. A priest named Valentine continued to marry couples. Valentine was discovered and put to death. Afterwards he was named a Saint.

A poem written by Charles the Duke of Orleans is considered the oldest valentine still in existence. Charles wrote the poem to his wife when imprisoned in the Tower of London. This document is part of the collection of the British Library in London England.

In much of South America, Love and Friendship day is quite popular and celebrated on February 14th. While it’s somewhat similar to the U.S. celebration, people also perform acts of appreciation for their friends. In Brazil, however, June 12th is Boyfriends/Girlfriends day. Couples exchange gifts, chocolates, cards and flower bouquets.

It is smart to always ask for a booking fee. Without this you could be caught out if something goes wrong. If they have paid nothing then they are less likely to try to solve any problems that may occur. Most people will pay you 50% prior to the wedding and the remaining afterwards. So you don’t end up bothering the bride and groom during the reception, arrangements should be made for when the remainder will be paid. It would look very unprofessional if you did.
